Wilmington, DE— (April 27, 2026): United Way of Delaware (UWDE) is proud to announce it has received a $10,000 donation from Delaware Subaru & AutoTeam Delaware as part of Subaru’s annual Subaru Share the Love® Event, a nationwide initiative that supports charitable organizations across the country.

During the campaign, which ran from November 20, 2025, through January 2, 2026, Delaware Subaru named UWDE its “Hometown Charity.” Under this designation, a portion of the proceeds from every new vehicle purchase or eligible service performed was donated to UWDE when customers selected the Hometown Charity option.

This contribution reflects a longstanding partnership among Delaware Subaru, its parent company, AutoTeam Delaware, and UWDE. The partnership is rooted in a shared commitment to strengthening communities statewide.

“Subaru gives retailers the opportunity to select a hometown charity, and in my opinion, it’s one of their best initiatives because it allows us to support what matters most in our community,” said Lee Asher, General Manager of AutoTeam Delaware. “Our relationship with United Way of Delaware goes back more than a decade, and their focus on early childhood education and on reading at grade level is something you can’t argue with. It is critical to every child’s future.”

United Way of Delaware will use the funds to support its work addressing the state’s literacy gap, an issue that has grown more urgent in the wake of pandemic-related learning loss.

“What we’ve seen in Delaware is that we still haven’t recovered the educational gains lost during COVID, which puts so many children and our future workforce at risk,” said Michelle Taylor, President and CEO of United Way of Delaware. “We are doubling down on closing the literacy gap, especially through summer learning, high-dosage tutoring, and social-emotional supports through our Get Delaware Reading Summer initiative. We are incredibly grateful to Delaware Subaru and AutoTeam Delaware for standing with us and investing in our children and our community.”

The Subaru Share the Love® Event is one of the largest automotive charitable initiatives in the country. The 2025 campaign alone contributed $26 million nationwide to national and local nonprofits.

Locally, Delaware Subaru’s support ensures that these funds remain in the community and help expand access to educational opportunities and critical resources for Delaware families.

“This partnership shows what’s possible when businesses invest back into their communities,” Taylor added. “In a world that needs more hope and opportunity, this kind of support makes a real difference.”###
