Delaware nonprofits are on the front lines daily, providing services and support for young children, seniors, and those who live in poverty. Delaware non-profits have experienced abrupt and devastating cancellations of their federal contracts or grants. These cuts directly affect our neighbors, people who rely on nonprofits’ services for food, care, and other support.
Literacy advocates: It’s time to fund a fix for reading crisis
Delaware’s literacy crisis sees only 26% of fourth graders reading proficiently. UWDE President and CEO Michelle Taylor joins our agency partners to stress that this is a community issue, not just educational. They call for increased funding and support for evidence-based programs to help all children become successful readers.
