United Way of Delaware with our partners Scholastic, UnitedHealthCare, Global Shapers, and The Wilmington Education Improvement Commission  hosted the 2017 Community Love For Reading Celebration Tuesday May 23rd at Wilmington Blue Rocks Frawley stadium.

This annual event honors reading champions, parent champions, and young authors  from  the Christina , Colonial , Indian River, Brandywine, Caesar Rodney, Red Clay Consolidated  and Capital School Districts.

The community came together to watch The Wilmington Blue Rocks baseball team go head to head with the Lynchburg Hillcats, as young students and families  from across the state received V.I.P treatment which included face painting, refreshments, games, give aways, and the magic of a baseball game (all at no cost)!

United Way of Delaware promotes Early Education and 3rd grade reading proficiency through programs like My Very Own Library, and engages the community through volunteer opportunities like Reading Angels
