Wilmington, DE – (December 8, 2023) Avelo Airlines and United Way of Delaware (UWDE) will raffle two packages, including two round-trip vouchers for tickets from Wilmington Airport, DE, to anywhere Avelo Airlines flies. The prize package includes vouchers for two checked bags, one carry-on bag per passenger, and a voucher for onsite parking. The event, part of UWDE’s Winter Wonderland campaign, provides Delaware children with winter coats and holiday toys. The event will be hosted by UWDE’s partner, the Wilmington Public Library, 10 E. 10th Street, Wilmington, on Saturday, December 16, from 11:30 am – 1:30 pm.
Registered attendees will be provided with a raffle ticket upon check-in to the event and will provide their contact information on the ticket to be eligible. The event will be lively and fun. In addition to the ticket raffle, Howard High School Cosmetology students will provide a manicure station, BVD Barbershop and Salon will be providing haircuts, a face painting station will be on hand, and the Wilmington group Best Kept Soul will be performing holiday classics. Our Wilmington Library event will be the final and largest Winter Wonderland event for 2023, with over 900 people registered to attend.
UWDE’s Winter Wonderland Program Director, Ken Livingston, said, “This is the third year UWDE partnered with Wilmington Library for our Winter Wonderland campaign, but the first time we’ve given away vacations! This will be a very nice and welcome holiday gift for two families, and we extend our thanks and deep appreciation to Avelo Airlines for their donation.” Mr. Livingston continued, “UWDE’s Winter Wonderland coat and holiday toy giveaway campaign highlights the need throughout Delaware that many families cannot provide warm coats for their children. Our donors and community partners have really stepped up to provide nearly 2,000 warm coats for Delaware children. It’s extremely gratifying to see a young child’s face light up when they put on a brand-new winter jacket.”
