Asset limited. Income constrained. Employed.
ALICE® is an acronym for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed. Our neighbors who are ALICE often live paycheck-to-paycheck and are one emergency away from crisis. They live above the Federal Poverty Level but don’t have enough income to meet their basic needs. This means they earn too much to qualify for assistance but aren’t financially stable; one missed paycheck, one illness, or one car breakdown could cause a spiral into poverty.
Delaware is a partner with United For ALICE, a nationwide initiative that’s using critical research to lift our neighbors from the unfair struggle to survive and back to the path of financial stability.

As announced at UWDE’s Annual Celebration on June 6, 2024, Brian Nourie assumes the Chair of UWDE’s Board of Directors as of July 1, 2024, as prior Board Chair Rick Deadwyler completes his term as Chair on June 30.
Reflections on Pride Month
“Say it loud, gay is proud.” This was the official chant of the first march for gay rights, organized to commemorate the first anniversary of the uprising at the Stonewall Inn in New York City in 1969. This shift in messaging from quiet, reserved, and rare demonstrations marked the beginning of a movement that would bring change to the medical community and state and local laws across the country – ultimately helping to usher in equality nationally.
