Education is one of the key aspects of United Way of Delaware’s focus to improve the lives of Delawareans, and SPARC helps bridge the skills gap of students coming out of high school by helping them learn what is truly needed in today’s job market.

SPARC (Success Pathways and Roads to Careers) partners students with an interest in a particular career field with career coaches who are currently working in that field.  Using a safe, anonymous online message board, the students can ask their career coaches questions about what it’s like working in that position, fields of study in college or trade schools and any other career-related question that they might have.

Students will also have the opportunity to delve deeper into a particular career by engaging in work-based learning activities such as company tours, guest speakers in the classroom, job shadowing, internships, and even scholarships!

Companies throughout Delaware are invited to become SPARC Partners to mentor students through the online message board as well as provide the in depth work-based learning activities.  By participating in SPARC, businesses not only become more involved in the community, but they can potentially develop future employees at a young age.
