delaware’s promise communities
Fulfilling Our Promise
TO ALL DELAWAREANS
As a state, Delaware offers a wide range of programs and services to help children and families. But these services don’t always reach those with the greatest need. At United Way of Delaware, we work with partners around the state to connect neighbors with the support they need to live well. Our goal is to ensure a more equitable life for everyone in Delaware, especially for those living in our eight promise communities. Here’s how we help:
Wilmington Eastside
Wilmington Westside
SW of Bear & Central New Castle County
Southbridge & Route 9 Corridor
Dover North Ring
South of Dover, Felton
Georgetown
Seaford, Bridgeville & Laurel
LIFE IN DELAWARE’S PROMISE COMMUNITIES
The numbers don’t lie. Research shows neighbors who live in our promise communities have obstacles keeping them from thriving. Poor transportation. Family poverty. Expensive housing. Few local job options. These factors block access to important services for children and families.
