SUMMER LEARNING LOSS
Every summer, thousands of Delaware children risk falling behind in reading — widening achievement gaps that can last a lifetime. But it doesn’t have to be this way. The Get Delaware Reading – Summer 2024 Impact Report shares how a statewide collaboration of schools, nonprofits, and literacy champions are rewriting that story. From high-dosage tutoring to community-driven learning experiences, this report reveals the data, strategies, and success stories that prove: when we work together, summer can change everything.
1,900 Students
Last summer, more than 1,900 Delaware students received high-impact literacy support through Get Delaware Reading. From mastering foundational skills to building reading confidence, each student took meaningful steps toward grade-level proficiency — and a brighter academic future.
52 Locations
The initiative reached students across 52 sites statewide, embedding literacy support into trusted community spaces like summer camps and youth programs. These familiar, local settings made reading accessible, engaging, and a natural part of summer fun.
