Storytime is important. Some of the most precious childhood memories are of reading with parents or guardians. In addition, studies show one-on-one reading time can also produce significant learning gains for children. But tragically, too many kids do not have these experiences today.
Whether it’s at home or online, we believe all children should be able to benefit from one-on-one storytime. At United Way of Delaware, we created Reading Angels to connect caring teens and adults with children in the community who are eager to learn.
Every week, Reading Angels across Delaware and Salem County (NJ) record videos of them reading a children’s story. The videos are sent to our team and shared on our website and YouTube Channel.
