The Salem County Advisory Committee of United Way of Delaware (UWDE) today announced that it will award a total of $18,000 to six Salem County nonprofit organizations that will each receive a $3,000 grant in support of a wide range of social service programs across the county. The awards will be presented during a ceremony on Giving Tuesday, December 3, at The Inn at Salem Country Club. Media and the public are invited.

Michelle Taylor, President and Chief Executive Officer of  of Delaware, said, “These grants represent United Way of Delaware’s commitment to Salem County to invest in partners and programs that are making a real difference to people in the community. It is our belief that this support will help expand the outreach capacity of each organization and enable them to better serve the people of Salem County.”

Earlier this Fall, the Salem County Advisory Committee reviewed responses to a Request For Proposal issued across the Salem County nonprofit community and selected six grant recipients from 17 applications. “The quality of each response was high,” said Taylor, “So narrowing the decision down to six was not an easy task. Based on what we saw during the reviews, the people of Salem County can be assured that the county’s nonprofit agencies are acutely aware of the issues in this community, and deeply engaged in driving for solutions. United Way is proud to be part of this work.”

The organizations each receiving a $3,000 grant are:
• Big Brothers Big Sisters
• Code Blue in Salem County
• Girl Scouts of Central & Southern New Jersey
• Habitat for Humanity
• Mid-Atlantic States Career and Education Center
• Salem County Women’s Services
