SPARC – What Is Your Pathway?

SPARC (Success Pathways and Roads to Careers) partners students with an interest in a particular career field with career coaches who are currently working in that field. Using a safe, anonymous online message board, the students can ask their career coaches questions about what it’s like working in that position, fields of study in college or trade schools and any other career-related question that they might have. United Way of Delaware, Network Connect and Kuumba Academy Charter School collaborated to host a career exploration event for Kuumba Academy’s middle school students.

This event was supported by the GUIDES program, made possible through a grant secured by United Way of Delaware from the Delaware Department of Education.

The GUIDES program is a school support model designed to facilitate the transition of middle school students to high school and career pathways. GUIDES partnered with local medical and health professionals, academic institutions, and organizations to expose young students to a variety of careers in the health sciences.

The event is a full-day gathering to connect and uplift members of Black Student Unions & Associations, Advisors, School administrators and allies that support them as they fight for equity and justice.
