This was an historic week for United Way of Delaware as we launched our first television series, Impact365, in partnership with DETV. Impact365 highlights the work of our partners, our community’s wide range of programs, and the impact they have made on our neighbors and our state.

The first week’s episode addressed equity and financial empowerment, especially as it pertains to minorities and minority small business owners. If you missed it you can still view it on our website here or our YouTube channel here.

Over the next four weeks, a new episode will be shown every Monday at 6 p.m. on DETV Channel 28, and simultaneously streamed on UWDE’sFacebook page.

After you watch the first few episodes, please tell me what you think – what did you like, what would you have like to have seen, how did it impact you? We want this to be “television with a positive impact” and we’d love your input to help us achieve that. You can email me at mtaylor@uwde.org.

We hope you will tune in to all the episodes and share the shows with your family, friends and colleagues. Help us raise the conversation on the critical issues facing Delaware. Together — United Way, our supporters, Delawareans, large and small businesses — we can envision, work toward and ultimately create a state that leads the nation in equity and opportunity.

On another front, as we enter the holiday season, we are asking you to take action to help a child stay warm this winter. We’re asking you to donate to Winter Wonderland — 1000 COATS AND TOYS for 1000 KIDS — a drive to provide coats to children all across the state this winter. We are excited to announce that The Wilmington (DE) Links, Incorporated is partnering with us on this initiative. Please refer to the article below to find out how you can participate and note the libraries and locations helping us by being drop-off and distribution partners.

Lastly, I can’t close my message today, Veterans Day, without acknowledging the men and women who sacrificed and served to protect our country. As a proud daughter of Jim Hill, the proud mother of Veteran Cory Taylor, and a proud cousin to Rodney Allen, I know first-hand the amount of sacrifice it takes to serve. I also work with amazing Veterans in my United Way family, John Moore and Gerald Rocha, whom I also want to acknowledge and applaud. I honor every Veteran and I thank you for your service.

Sincerely,

Michelle A. Taylor - President & CEO - United Way of Delaware
