Nello M. Paoli Jr., chair of the Youth Committee for the Delaware Workforce Development Board, and United of Delaware CEO, Dr. Michelle A. Taylor co-authored this recent OP-ED, announcing the first ever Success for Our Seniors initiative at Dover High School.
“The goal of SOS is to help high school seniors enjoy a more fulfilling future by providing individualized guidance that identifies an optimal path for success, arming graduates with the optimal tools to pursue their goals and contributing to Delaware’s, and our nation’s, future.”
The Success for Our Seniors (SOS) program addresses the issue of ensuring that high school seniors in Delaware are prepared to thrive after they graduate. Many students across the state may not be ready to tackle their post-graduation goals. The SOS program will provide individualized guidance and support to help students identify the path they want to pursue after graduation, and help move them towards achieving their goals so they can be successful in life. The program provides specific actionable steps based on the student’s chosen path and includes checklists, detailed information sessions, connections to resources, and 1:1 guidance where needed.
The first pilot of the program will take place in Dover High School with the collaboration of United Way of Delaware, the Delaware Workforce Development Board, and Capital School District.
